FAQ
We understand you might have a few questions you'd like answering before ordering. Here we list a few of the most common one's, though you're welcome to contact us should you have something else to ask.
Do these doors arrive ready to be fitted?
Every door that we manufacture is sanded by machine and by hand to ensure that they're as ready to fit as can be once they arrive. We recommend that your doors are oiled or waxed to protect and to also enhance the look of these beautful oak doors. All of our oak cottage doors can be bought unfinished but sanded, or finished by us from among our choice of oils and waxes.
Will these doors need to be trimmed to size?
Whether oak doors fit "as is" will depend on the width and height of your door frame, though we offer our antique oak doors in all common sizes to ensure you can find the most appropriate size. Ledges are inset to make it easy to trim to the width and height that you need.
What is the difference between these antique doors and other cottage door styles that I've found?
Our antique reproduction doors are individually hand made using rustic style oak boards that are chosen for the perfect amount of character and quality. Each door is made to a 44mm thickness, offering a more solid and superior feel when compared to standard 40mm doors. Ledges are screwed and pegged rather than nailed to give an excellent finish, while corners and edges are styled give the impression of antique-style, worn edges.
